This Stand Up Pencil Pouch/Case is a project for someone with an intermediate sewing skill level.
A lot of photos of the step-by-step process are included in this tutorial.
For this Stand-Up Pencil Pouch You'll need :
- Cotton for main layer 22"x14" (55cm x 34cm)
- Cotton for lining 20"x12" (50cm x 30cm)
- Zipper no shorter than 42cm or 16.5"
- Stiff fabric for INSERT. Can be non-glue thick interfacing.
Can be thick cotton. 10"x7" (25cm x 16cm)
- Erasable fabric pen
- Matching thread
- Scissors
- Needle
- Pins
This pattern has a seam allowance 1/4" (approx. 6mm)
TIP #1: Use a thicker sewing machine needle. American Size 14-16, European Size 90-100.
TIP#2: If your cotton for the main layer is not stiff, iron on the interfacing. To prevent thick seams,
do not add a seam allowance to the interfacing.
TIP#3: If you would like to get a “puffy” look, iron on cotton batting onto the main piece of the
pouch, or sew on a thin layer of polyester padding. Cut a piece without a seam allowance.
